New Graduates at Factory 49 | der_melicious (Mel Baveas) | SCA

January–February 2016 | Factory 49, 49 Shepherd Street, Marrickville, SydneyArtist: der_melicious (Mel Baveas) | Sydney College of the Arts
In early 2016, I participated in Factory 49’s New Graduates exhibition program, presenting work as der_melicious following my studies at the Sydney College of the Arts.
The two-part exhibition showcased graduating and recently gr
aduated artists from Sydney’s major art schools, including the National Art School, Sydney College of the Arts and UNSW Art & Design. The project provided a platform for emerging artists to present their recent work within Sydney’s independent contemporary art scene.
For me, the exhibition marks an important moment in the transition from art school into professional practice. Participating as der_melicious, I was part of a cohort of emerging artists whose work was being introduced to a wider public through an independent exhibition context in Marrickville.
The exhibition forms part of my early exhibition history and documents the development of my multidisciplinary practice immediately following my time at Sydney College of the Arts.
